What To Bring to Surf Camp

Warm Winds will provide all gear required for surfing, including surfboards, rash guards, and wetsuits (if necessary). All Campers should bring the following packed in a backpack that is easy to carry:

  • Lunch + Plenty of Water
  • Sunscreen
  • Swimsuit
  • Towel
  • Sunglasses
  • Hat for sun protection
  • Shoes/Sandals
  • Sweatshirt
  • Raincoat in case of poor weather

If parents are more comfortable with bringing their own wetsuits for surf campers, they may feel free to do so. If you don’t already own a suit, we have plenty available for purchase at the shop in both youth and adult sizes!

Below are a few other recommendations for your surf camper that are available at Warm Winds surf shop:

Lycra compression shorts: Great for male campers who are spending all day in their boardshorts. Helps to reduce/prevent rashes that can result from surfing all day as well as running during our daily beach games.

Long Sleeve UV Tee: It’s hard to escape the beating sun during beach games and activities. These UV Tee’s are light and breathable, and offer plenty of protection from the sun

Rash Gel: If a rash does occur, this rash gel works great for relieving discomfort during surfing or beach games.

Straw sun hat: Provides complete coverage for ultimate sun protection during a full day at the beach.

Remember: Camp takes place outdoors and weather conditions can change quickly even if the weather looks great in the morning.

Since surfing is primarily a “wet” sport, we typically remain at the beach during rainstorms, unless thunderstorms or heavy wind/dangerous conditions occur. Therefore, it is important for campers to have something warm and dry to put on -- pack a sweatshirt and a raincoat.

Lost and Found

Warm Winds is not responsible for any missing/lost items. Campers are instructed to leave their belongings in a backpack or tote either up at our surf truck, or on the beach under the Warm Winds camp tent.

Any items that are found during the week will be kept in the surf truck for the remainder of the week. Any items not collected by the end of the week will be brought up to the surf shop. At the end of the summer, any lost and found items will be disposed of.

We recommend that campers only bring items that are needed for camp, and to leave valuables at home.
